Psion Teklogix 7535

Rugged flashlight-style handheld
(by Conrad H. Blickenstorfer)

Generally, you'd expect a "7535" model to offer more than a "7530" model, but in the case of the Psion Teklogix 7535 more is less, as in less size and less weight than the invincible but large 7535. The 7535 looks almost the same, but weighs 1.4 pounds instead of 2.1 pounds and is smaller in every dimension. The 7535 is also missing a PC Card slot and expansion goes through a SD and a CF card slot. The device is slightly less rugged in all environmental standards (though still plenty tough). There are very few compromises on the technology side: the 7535 uses the same 400MHz PXA255 processor and can be equipped with the same RAM and flash storage. The transflective color display is the same as well. Keyboard and expansion options slightly differ. Psion coined the FIRE acronym for this device: Flexibility, Integration, Ruggedness, and Ergonomics.
