Compact, rugged flashlight-style handheld

The LXE MX7 rugged handheld computer was designed for a variety of data collection applications in warehousing and similar settings. The device is small and light (about 1.3 pounds) so that it can be used for comfortable scanning throughout a shift. However, despite its compact size, the MX7 is a tough computer. It can operate in a wide temperature range between 14 and 122 degrees Fahrenheit, survive 5-foot drops (6-foot with an optional rubber boot for extra protection), and it is sealed to IP65 specifications.

The device is powered by a 400MHz Marvell XScale PXA255 processor, runs Windows CE 5.0 Professional, has 128MB of RAM and between 128MB and a gigabyte of SD Flash.

The MX7 has excellent onboard communications capabilities. 802.11b/g WiFi allows fast data and network communication. Bluetooth 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate makes for fast and reliable connections to wireless peripherals such as printers.

The MX7 provides all-range scanning. Operators can collect bar code data from 4 to 40 feet away. The MX7 can even provide a vibration signal upon a successful scan -- handy in noisy environments.

LXE also equipped the MX7 with "ToughTalk" technology, a system that uses advanced audio and noise cancellation techniques for industrial-grade voice logistics applications.
