Full review: Alder Lake-powered Durabook R11
It's good to be first with new tech, and the Durabook R11 fully-rugged 11.6-inch Windows tablet was the first in its field announced with Intel "Alder Lake" 12th generation Core processors, and also the first Alder Lake-equipped rugged device in our testing lab. IT buyers urged to address the sustainability gap by breaking technology refresh cycles
European IT Buyers are stuck in a four-year cycle of refreshing their computing devices for the mobile workforce, despite increasing sustainability pressures, according to new research from Panasonic TOUGHBOOK. On average, IT Buyers reported they were refreshing their mobile computing technology every four years and they expected manufacturers to support devices for just over three years after product launch. Winmate launches value version of rugged S101 Windows tablet
Winmate's S101 series of Windows rugged tablets was designed to boost efficiency in warehouse, vehicle, and field service environments. Initially available with a high-performance Intel 11th generation Core processor in its S101TG model, the new Winmate S101EK represents a value version with an Intel "Elkhart" Celeron N6210 or Pentium N6415 CPU. The economy models don't need a fan but are, except for some expansion options, identical to the S101TG. Review: Handheld Algiz RT10 10-inch rugged tablet
The Algiz RT10 is the Handheld Group's first 10-inch rugged Android tablet, the 10-inch segment arguably the most important in terms of size and mobility. Trimble announces Q3 2022 financials
Trimble reported record revenue of US$884.9 million in Q3 of 2022 compared to US$901.4 million in Q3 of 2021, down 2% year over year. GAP net income for Q3 2022 was US$85.8 million compared to US$124.0 million for Q3 2021. For the full-year 2022, Trimble now expects to report GAAP revenue between $3,665 million and $3,715. Rob Painter, Trimble's president and CEO said, "Our third quarter results simultaneously reflect the quality of the Trimble financial model and the reality of evolving macroeconomic challenges." Motorola Solutions announces Q3 2022 financials
Motorola Solutions reported Q3 2022 sales of US$2.373 billion, up 13% from US$2.107 billion Q3 2021. GAAP operating earnings for Q3 2022 were US$451 million versus US$352 million Q3 2021. For full-year 2022, Motorola Solutions now expects revenue growth of 10% to 10.25%. "Our Q3 record-ending backlog and continued business momentum position us well to finish the year with record sales, earnings, and cash flow," said Greg Brown, chairman and CEO of Motorola Solutions. What happened in rugged computing 10 years ago: Nov. 2012
In November 2012, Microsoft revealed pricing for its Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablets, NPD Group reported that Windows 8 was off to a slow start, and RuggedPCReview wrote about Windows RT's suitability for vertical markets. Getac upgraded its S400 semi-rugged notebook to 3rd gen Core processors, and Winmate began offering some of its handhelds and tablets with Android. Xplore reported US$7.5 million and Intermec US$193 million revenue for the quarter. We reviewed the Winmate M700D, the Panasonic Toughbook C2, MobileDemand's xTablet T1200, DAP's MT1010 tablet, and Getac's PS336 handheld. Zebra Technologies announces Q3 2022 financials
Zebra Technologies reported sales of US$1,378 million in Q3 of 2022 compared to US$1,436 million in Q3 of 2021. Net sales in the Enterprise Visibility & Mobility segment (i.e. what used to be the enterprise business of Motorola Solutions) were US$963 million in Q3 2022 compared with $1,058 million in Q3 2021. Net income for Q3 2022 was US$170 million, compared to net income of US$199 million in Q3 2021. The company expects fourth-quarter 2022 net sales to change (2)% to 1% from the fourth quarter of 2021.
