Samsung brings the rugged Galaxy XCover6 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro to the U.S.

Sleek, durable and secure Galaxy XCover6 Pro smartphone and Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro tablet empower frontline and field workers with the versatility to do more wherever the job takes them

September 22, 2022 — Samsung Electronics America today expanded its rugged portfolio in the U.S., announcing market availability for its Galaxy XCover6 Pro smartphone and Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro tablet. These purposefully engineered, enterprise-ready mobile devices are powerful enough to support today's most demanding businesses. Both devices deliver enhanced mobility with 5G connectivity, strong performance, end-to-end security, a replaceable battery and ruggedized durability to help employees get more done, even in tough work environments.

"We built the Galaxy XCover6 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro with frontline and field workers in mind — including the unique challenges they face on the job," said Chris Balcik, Vice President and Head of Mobile B2B at Samsung Electronics America. "With durable, water-resistant designs, replaceable batteries and 5G connectivity capabilities, these devices help frontline and field workers get the job done from anywhere there's a connection, whether they're on their feet, in trucks or at stores."

Tough, Light and Ready for Work
The Galaxy XCover6 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro are built for harsh environments. They are both MIL-STD-810H compliant to withstand extreme altitudes, temperatures, vibration and humidity. As an added layer of protection, the Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro — including its integrated S Pen — and the Galaxy XCover6 Pro are IP68 rated for dust and water resistance. The Galaxy XCover6 Pro display incorporates Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus®+, providing scratch and damage resistance, and it can withstand drops of up to 1.5m. The Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro is built with Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5 and can endure drops of up to 1m, or 1.2m when using the included protective cover.

Tough enough for even the most demanding work environments, the Galaxy XCover6 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro are stunning with slim and lightweight frames. The Galaxy XCover6 Pro measures 9.9mm thin and weighs 235g, while the Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro measures 10.2mm thin and weighs 674g. Both devices are highly portable for use outside the office, on the sales floor or out in the field.

The Galaxy XCover6 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro are the first devices in their respective series to support the 5G wireless network, making it possible to work from anywhere there is a signal.

Versatile Tools for Frontline Workers
The Galaxy XCover6 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro are designed to make the jobs of frontline and field workers easier and include several features tailored to unique work environments. Key mapping allows companies to program device keys based on their needs to quickly launch business-critical or commonly used apps with the press of a button. For example, construction workers and emergency service responders can use the keys to turn on a walkie-talkie function through push-to-talk.

For workers who may find themselves in environments where gloves are required, Touch Sensitivityxi settings can be adjusted to increase the screen's receptiveness. Enhancements for touch in wet environments make the devices easier to use when a worker's hand is damp in rainy conditions, or with safety or medical gloves on.

To help field workers hear device sounds in the field, the Galaxy XCover6 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro offer a significant increase in maximum volume. That means workers can hear important notifications loud and clear even in a busy hospital ward or a noisy construction site.

"With the digitization of workflows for frontline and field workers, there's an increasing need for rugged devices in multiple verticals including manufacturing, transportation, public safety and retail," said Bryan Bassett, Research Manager, Enterprise Mobility at IDC. "We've seen strong market traction for Samsung's rugged devices with enterprises looking to deploy competitively priced rugged mobile devices for reliable communication and access to mobile business applications. Samsung's rugged offerings, including its new Galaxy XCover6 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro, successfully bridge the gap between industrial ultra-rugged devices and consumer-grade devices, making them durable enough to withstand a number of challenging environments while still providing a familiar and approachable end-user experience for frontline and field workers."

Built To Support Today's Modern Mobile Enterprise
Ruggedized on the outside and sophisticated within, the Galaxy XCover6 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro feature the best of Samsung's industry-leading software and powerful hardware. The intuitive One UIxiii mobile experience enables each device to offer a more personalized experience, while the 6nm Octa-Core advanced processors on both devices keep employees connected and highly productive with faster processing speeds.

The Galaxy XCover6 Pro comes with 128GB of storage, while the Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro offers either 64GB or 128GB out of the box. Both devices provide expandable storage of up to 1TB with an optional microSD card, so workers can keep all important files locally on their devices.

Employees can rely on fast speeds and low latency on both devices to stay connected when it matters most. The Galaxy XCover6 Pro comes with 5G and Wi-Fi 6Exv connectivity, while the Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro comes with built-in Sub6 5G and Wi-Fi 6xvi. Additionally, the Galaxy XCover6 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro are ready to support CBRSxvii (Citizens Broadband Radio Service) for private network service, so businesses can use their own reliable and scalable networks.

Galaxy XCover6 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro feature near-field communication (NFC) and mobile Knox Platform for POS (Point of Sale), which make them particularly powerful tools for retail businesses. Whether mounted at a cash register or used as a portable point of sale, both devices can keep customers happy by enabling faster and easier checkout. And with Knox Capturexix, the Galaxy XCover6 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro can function as enterprise-grade barcode scanners for real-time tracking and checking of inventory. They can also be used with hands-free scanning accessories for use while mounted to a forklift.

Never worry about losing power at a critical moment — both devices feature a replaceablexx battery and Pogo fast-charging. And with No Battery Mode on the Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro, the tablet can be used continuously at a kiosk or in a vehicle without a battery while preventing depleted battery health, even in high-temperature environments.

For workers who need PC-like productivity out in the field or in a vehicle, both devices support Samsung DeX. This enables a user to connect their device to an external display, keyboard and in-vehicle mounting solutions to enjoy a PC-like experience when managing workers' schedules and generating reports. The Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro can be used in Standalone Mode to emulate a desktop interface on the tablet. For an enhanced PC-like experience, each device can be mounted to an mPOS docking solution with DeX Mode to turn into an ad-hoc checkout station in retail stores.

Tough on the Inside with Integrated, Real-Time Security Protection
With the increase in mobile workforces, security has never been more critical. That is why Samsung offers Knox Suite, an all-in-one platform that makes it easier for IT teams to configure, secure, manage and analyze devices — whether it be a single device or a whole fleet. Samsung's defense-grade security platform, Samsung Knox, protects the Galaxy XCover6 Pro and the Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro with fully integrated hardware and software protections. From the chip up, the platform delivers end-to-end and real-time protection against growing threats facing the modern workforce.

Additionally, the Galaxy XCover6 Pro provides facial recognition and fingerprint biometric security support that ensures the intended user is the only one able to access the device. Security updates are provided for up to five years, while four additional One UI and OS upgrades are provided after the initial global launch.

The Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro is offered as an Enterprise Edition, making it enterprise-ready out of the box and ensuring extended security support and business continuity. This includes one year of Samsung Knox Suite, an extended three-year life cycle, and Android 12 at launch with three OS updates. It also provides five years of security maintenance releases — monthly for four years and quarterly for one year.

Businesses can further protect their investments with Samsung Care+ for Business — a protection service that safeguards devices against accidental physical and liquid damages.
